POST 7 : Who's Ted Bundy ?

On November 24, 1946 was born in Vermont (USA) one of the serial killers that would have more impact on modern American society, Ted Bundy. His specialty: sodomize and brutally murder university students.

Theodore (Ted) Bundy's childhood was marked by a great lie. His grandparents assumed the identity of true parents to hide an immoral motherhood before society. A paradoxical moral protection, considering the acts that took place inside the false home: his grandfather was a violent man, fond of pornography and human/animal abuse.

As an adult, Ted Bundy knew how to overcome his childhood, apparently, and came to occupy a place of prestige in society. He studied psychology and law and was even an aspiring governor of the state.
Despite his achievements and public recognitions, he did not feel integrated into society and resorted to violent sex as an escape route and, later, to murder and sodomy. Its fixation would be the middle-class university students with long, black and straight hair, coincidentally the same aspect as that of the university student who fell in love a few years ago.

The way it worked was always the same: he was working on university campuses or near supermarkets in broad daylight, he picked a young woman at random and asked for help to load races into his car. When she approached the victim, he hit her with an iron bar and put her in the car to take her somewhere to sodomize her with a twisted harassment. Once his bloody ritual was accomplished, he murdered her and practiced necrophilic practices.
With this tactic, he violently kidnapped, violated and murdered a large number of students from different universities in the states of Oregon, Utah, Colorado, and Florida, as well as several girls between 1974 and 1978. The number of murders is imprecise, he confessed to the murder of 28 women but only 14 bodies were found.

The degradation of the behavior of Bundy had adverse consequences on his citizenship status and he was arrested several times due to his misconduct. Thanks to this, the police found in his car information that designated him as the alleged murderer wanted for some time.

Although Bundy was arrested and imprisoned pending trial, he escaped twice to continue his criminal career. The compulsion, the desire to kill and the lack of fear of being trapped prevent him from stopping and reinforce his sadism. Far from showing a reactive psychopath profile, which only kills when he feels under mental pressure, Bundy was an addict; He needed his dose of kidnapping, rape and death. After his second escape on December 30, 1977 and a vague attempt to go unnoticed near Miami, Bundy's bloodlust dissipated. His last goal in January 1978 was for students who spent the night at Florida State University's Chi Omega fraternity.
Bundy entered the building at night and, piece by piece, beat the students with a log of wood, their skull destroyed to make him upset, bitten and mutilated their corpses. The same night, he attacked the house of his penultimate victim, Cheryl Thomas, with whom he repeated his ritual.A few days later, she had even more strength to put a stop to her bloody career with another rape and murder: a 12-year-old girl.

The psychopathic profile of Theodore Bundy is a perfect example of a serial killer and meets virtually all the requirements established by criminology experts :

- Traumatic childhood: full of lies, abandonment of her mother and abuse of her grandfather.
- Narcissism: everything revolved around him, providing all kinds of luxury and well-being.
- Sociopathy: his charisma, his personal charm, his gift of people and the ease of his speech allowed him to integrate perfectly into society, despite the feeling of not leaving it.
- Deception and manipulation: he drew his victims deceit, sometimes claiming to be powerless and sometimes disguised as law enforcement officer.
Sexual Domination: He was enjoying himself knowing that he was the master of life and death, and his crimes bore a heavy necrophilous burden.
- Lack of empathy and remorse: recidivism and the suffering it has caused are a sign of failure to put oneself in the other's shoes.
Mania of persecution: his fixation by a certain type of victim has marked all his crimes.
- Compulsion: his constant desire to murder, even after being arrested and imprisoned, leaves clear evidence of his mental illness.
- Need strong emotions: continually search for riskier situations without taking into account the evidence that leaves the way and incriminate later.

Ted Bundy knew how to cope with the law and used all of his insight and legal knowledge to escape his sentence and delay it. He even represented himself in a judicial process that lasted five years from his indictment in 1975 and up to the penalty.

In 1980, he was sentenced to the electric chair thanks to the conclusive evidence of the medical examiner, who identified the morphology of his teeth in one of the victims. Ted Bundy was executed nine years later, leaving behind a list of 28 victims and a black past in American history.
